The origins of psychology can be traced already from the ancient Greeks and Romans. More than two thousand years ago, philosophers were discussions about some of the same issues that now occupy the psychologists. However, the formal birth of psychology as an independent discipline was held in 1879 - this year in Leipzig, in Germany, Wilhelm Wundt founded the first laboratory for experimental study of mental phenomena. In subsequent years, psychology was in a period of rapid growth, worldwide. It produced a number of different conceptual models that allow to plan research and interpret the experimental data.
The main purpose of today's psychology - an explanation from the standpoint of science, why people behave a certain way. Another goal of psychology - to help people make full use of their data and derive satisfaction from life.
Scientific psychology, like any other scientific discipline, has two approaches: static and dynamic. Concrete reality as it is given us in experience, changeable, diverse and complex. These properties are actually the main causes of the difficulties of scientific knowledge of it. Therefore, initially in any science develops a statistical approach. This review of each complex phenomenon, breaking it into a series of simple steps and considering each of them separately, assuming that it (the phenomenon) in itself, regardless of other processes. On this basis, there are theories of "first wave" to explain certain aspects. Most striking, in the psychology of such a plan are the following theory: the theory of Gesell's maturation theory of human attachment Bowlby and Ainsworth's theory of cognitive development Piaget's theory of classical conditioning Pavlov.
