Mastoiditis Island - acute inflammation of the tissues of the mastoid process, is often a complication of acute purulent otitis media (secondary mastoiditis). There have been a headache, insomnia, loss of appetite. The temperature rises to 38.5 gr. C, but often remains subfebrile.
Mastoiditis may develop within a few days, sometimes weeks, months. BTE differentiated from abscesses (boils when the external auditory canal or festering lymph nodes). Of great importance in the diagnosis mastoidita has X-ray examination.
Conservative Treatment: Treatment of acute otitis media. Operation - antromastoidotomy - shown when expressed destructive changes in the mastoid process. Absolute indications for surgery are the signs of the transition process in the meninges, sigmoid sinus, or labyrinth, facial nerve paralysis, subperiosteal abscess.
